Okra and Corn Casserole

2-1/2 to 3 c. frozen corn
3 c. cut okra

Put okra in skillet (with 2 tablespoons oleo) until sticky goes away. Put okra and corn in alternate layers in greased casserole. Sprinkle salt and pepper as you go. Make basic white sauce. Melt 2 tablespoons butter, put 2 tablespoons flour in butter, stir until cooked, but not brown. Into flour and butter mixture, pour 1 cup milk, stir until thickens (by hand), when it comes to a boil should be like cream gravy, set off stove. Stir in 1/4 pound grated sharp cheese, put over low flame, stir until melts, pour over okra and corn - on top put 1 cup bread or butter cracker crumbs (Cheezit-Ritz). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until slightly brown. .
